Clan motto questions
Mottos vs. war cries, choosing well, duplicates, and how the generator works.
What is a clan motto generator? +
A clan motto generator creates short phrases — mottos and war cries — that express a gaming clan's identity. ClanCry lets you choose a style (warrior, Latin-style, tactical, humorous, shadowy) and a format (full motto or short war cry), then generates a random shortlist you can copy or download.
What is the difference between a motto and a war cry? +
A motto is a complete statement of identity, usually a full phrase or sentence, used on clan pages and banners. A war cry is shorter and punchier — a few words meant to be shouted before a match or typed in chat. The generator offers both formats because they serve different moments.
How do I choose a motto for my clan? +
Generate a mixed-style shortlist, read each candidate out loud, and keep the ones that sound natural in voice chat. Then check the survivors against two filters: does it describe how your squad actually plays, and is anyone else already using it? Our ideas guide walks through the full process.
Can two clans have the same motto? +
Technically yes — short phrases are hard to own — but duplicates cause confusion and look unoriginal, especially in competitive scenes. Always search a motto before adopting it, and tweak the wording to make it yours if something close already exists.
Are Latin-style mottos real Latin? +
No. ClanCry's Latin-style mottos use English phrasing with a classical cadence — short, solemn, declarative lines like 'Strength and Honor' or 'Fortune Favors the Bold.' They evoke the tradition of historical mottos without requiring translation.
What makes a motto memorable? +
Three things: brevity (under eight words), rhythm (it should roll off the tongue), and truth (it should describe your squad). 'Strike Silent, Strike Sure' works because it is short, rhythmic and says something real about a tactical team.
Can I download my mottos? +
Yes. Click Download .txt to save your shortlist as a plain text file, or Copy all to paste it into Discord or your clan chat. Everything happens in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
Is ClanCry free? +
Yes — unlimited generations, no account, no email signup, no paywall. The tool is plain JavaScript running on your device.
